Te Atatu Food Truck Fridays - March 6th 4:30pm-8:30pm

Here is the full line up for NEXT Friday’s March 6th Food Truck Friday. Get ready for great food, great music and good times 😃. Tag your dinner date and save the date at www.facebook.com.... Te Atatu South Community Centre - 4:30pm to 8:30pm. First Friday of the month.
Joining us will be:

- Nom Nom – South East Asian inspired rice bowls brimming with flavour
- The Hungry Swine – Epic chargrilled pork belly sandwiches
- Solo Kitchen – Gozleme Turkish flatbread filled with goodness
- Manila Eats – Primo Pinoy inspired gourmet burgers and tasty fries
- Sabores Empanadas - The Auckland famous gourmet empanada truck also serving delectable Argentinean cakes and churros
- Crepe Creations – Sweet and savoury crepes created with love
- Victor and Vern - Delivering your coffee, iced chocolate and homemade soda fix

On the night we will also have the DJ’s from the TAT South Vinyl Collective back again spinning vinyl in the courtyard, The ReCreators FREE creative children’s workshops, bouncy castle and playzones. There will also be the first ever live performance of the TAT South Community Jam Band inside the community hub from 7pm!

Grab some tasty food, catch up with friends, enjoy the fun community vibes. Plenty of seating available outside or inside or picnic in the park. Plenty of parking available. Walking or cycling up is even easier. Remember by biking you could be in with the chance of winning one of 5 $20 dinner vouchers. See you there!

What workplace change would you like to see most?

This coming Monday is Labour Day in New Zealand. This public holiday marks when the eight-hour workday and 48-hour workweek became law in 1899. The idea started with Samuel Parnell, a carpenter in Wellington, who in 1840 refused to work more than eight hours a day. Since skilled workers were in short supply, his employer had to agree.

As more skilled workers arrived, employers tried to change working conditions, but Parnell and others kept pushing for better rights. In 1890, Parnell led a Labour Day parade of 1,500 people to promote the eight-hour day. He passed away shortly after, and nine years later, Labour Day became an official public holiday.
