David Downs tells his story about beating cancer with Optimism and Science
.
Devonport Rotary and Devonport Business Association invite you breakfast to hear this inspiring talk.
David now describes himself as a genetically modified organism after his battle with terminal cancer; firstly in NZ with an escalating range of chemotherapy treatments, then the amazing luck that got him to Boston, USA to be part of a clinical trial for a radical new type of cancer treatment.
This isn’t a boring cancer talk though, it’s a story of optimism and of living life and..........you will laugh a lot!
He’s an ex-comedian, TV and Radio actor, author of three books; No.8 Re-wired, No 8 Recharged and A Mild Touch of The Cancer. In his ‘day job’, David Downs is a General Manager at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE).

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
