She'll Be Right, home of original NZ music, on East FM, Saturday from high noon...

Phil from Farm Cove

All Kiwi music and news of upcoming concerts, including a spotlight on the Ministry of Folk’s next showcase, feature on tomorrow’s She’ll Be Right on Saturdays Show with PJ Taylor, midday to 4pm (NZ time, Feb 10) on East FM.

The Ministry of Folk is a wonderful Auckland music institution and its next excellent concert line-up is Fables, Dave Alley and resident band Hoop on Sunday, February 18, at the fabulous Movespace Rooftop, 473 Dominion Rd, Mt Eden, from 7pm.

We’ll be talking live at 1pm with Al Baxter, of Hoop, the motivated band hosts and organisers of Ministry of Folk concerts. It’ll be good to catch up with Al, a very active contributor on the Auckland folk music scene, and play Hoop recordings including their most recent single, Want This Thing To Last.

Dave Alley is described as ‘a genre defying artist whose mostly acoustic guitar based music stems from roots, world, blues, rock, reggae, funk, folk, and South Pacific styles’. He’s a talented multi-instrumentalist who’s on tour and with a bit of good fortune we’ll be able to talk with him live at 2pm. His 2020 album One We Play is outstanding.

Fables is the well-established folk music entity of Jess Bailey, who’s also a very talented art artist. We’ll play tracks from her 2018 album Portraits, which features appearances by NZ’s leading folk musicians.

East FM is East Auckland’s fair-dinkum community-powered public service radio station, on 88.1FM and 107.1FM on local frequencies, nationally and globally at www.eastfm.nz... and on app iHeart Radio.

She’ll Be Right - it’s all about the vibe; it’s all about the groove. Providing a platform for NZ music and performing artists to exhibit their skills. Ka pai. – PJ

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
