Edible Christmas Trees

Jessica Neighbourly Lead from Half Moon Bay

Thank you to Annie, Sally , Michelle and the amazingly wonderful team at Highland Park Library for hosting another Edible Christmas Tree event.
Making your edible Christmas tree creates great memories and is delicious!
1-Make a cone shaped mould lined with baking paper.
In a large bowl ( microwave proof -if using glass be sure to use a teatowel to remove the bowl from the microwave)
2-Melt about 140g of chocolate for about 90 seconds depending on your microwave. Or use the steam bath method on the stovetop . ( we use Homebrand chocolate $2.50 from Countdown in the baking isle)
3- Once the chocolate is melted add rice bubbles, broken buscuits and a few jelly lollies, anything you would enjoy in your Christmas tree.Mix well
4- Using a tablespoon fill your mould with the mixture and use the back of the spoon to flatten the base as this will ensure your tree stands upright.
5- Place in the fridge or freezer for about 10 minutes.
6- Once the Christmas tree is set you can melt more chocolate ( if using white chocolate in the microwave be careful to check on it every 30 seconds )
7- Pour the white chocolate over the Christmas tree and sprinkle 100s and 1000s over the top. Use edible baking decorations. Have fun- and enjoy

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
