Police in Counties Manukau East are reminding residents to check the identification of official workers following reports of burglaries where suspects have impersonated officials.

What you need to know:
- Police have recently dealt with a number of burglaries in the Howick area, where a suspect has impersonated an official worker.
- There have been persons identifying themselves as official workers and visiting houses, advising residents they are there to check the water or power meters.
- Residents are being reminded that all official workers, regardless of which organisation they work for, will be clearly identifiable with photo ID, uniforms and fluro gear.
- Police encourage anyone who sees something that doesn’t appear right to contact Police.

Counties Manukau East Area Community Service Manager, Senior Sergeant Anson Lin, has shared:
"A high-vis jacket is no guarantee of authority - and sadly there are offenders out there who are trying to take advantage of people,”

“Don’t be afraid to challenge something or someone to ask for identification - official workers will be clearly identifiable. We need the public to report any suspicious activity so we can conduct enquiries and hold offenders to account."

“If you see suspicious behaviour and it is happening now please contact Police on 111 or if it is after the fact, contact Police on 105 or online at www.police.govt.nz...

For many people, the thought of downsizing and moving to a new house can be pretty daunting, especially if you’ve lived in the family home for the last 20 to 30 years. But if you take the plunge, it can open the door for you to truly expand your life.

There are two things to consider when you’ve decided to sell up – how to present your home so it’s appealing to buyers and packing up your home for the physical move.

Before you jump into renovations to make the place look shiny and new, think carefully about the value they will add to the house and whether you’ll recover that cost in the sale price. Renovations can be costly, stressful and time-consuming, so they’re only worth making if they’ll add significant value to your house sale.

Rhythm n’ blues n’ soul music, and a chat with Howick Little Theatre cast members, feature on today’s She’ll Be Right on Saturdays Show with PJ Taylor, midday to 4pm (NZ time) on East FM.
It’s been a while since we’ve done a free-play show, so we’re spinning old favourites, and talking at 1pm with Mark Bishop and Anna Baird, cast members of the Howick Little Theatre’s last production for 2023, Old Love, by comic playwright Norm Foster.
It’s described as ‘a timeless comedy about hope, broken hearts, rekindled romance, and how it’s never too late to take a second chance on love’.
Bud Mitchell, portrayed by Mark Bishop, is smitten with Molly Graham from the first time he meets her. Molly, played by Anna Baird, barely notices him.
And the trouble is, they’re both already married at the time. Nearly three decades later, the now-divorced Bud discovers that Molly’s husband has died, so he makes up his mind to finally convince her that they belong together.
Tracey Holdsworth is thrilled to be directing Old Love: “I have to admit, I’m a bit of a hopeless romantic, so the chance to direct such a wonderful romantic comedy about hope and the quest for love was something I jumped at.”

The HLT season of Old Love runs from November 11 to December 2, with tickets available at www.hlt.nz... or iTICKET on phone 09 361 1000.

East FM is East Auckland’s fair-dinkum community-powered public service radio station, on 88.1FM and 107.1FM on local frequencies, nationally and globally at www.eastfm.nz... and on app iHeart Radio.
She’ll Be Right - it’s all about the vibe; it’s all about the groove. – PJ
