Lorne Street Spring Fair - Saturday October 1st
Central City Library is proud to present the Lorne Street Spring Fair on Saturday 1st October, 10am – 3pm.
A free event to welcome in Spring, promote sustainability and celebrate our migrant communities.
Join us for live music from around the world, dance performances, creative workshops, crafts and food stalls.
We’ll have workshops with the ReCreators where you can make Fabric and Flax Flowers and Upcycle T-shirts, Circability will be teaching circus skills for all ages, and you can learn about composting with the Chinese Conservation Education Trust. We’ll also have a craft stall where you can make traditional Chinese bracelets, necklaces and earrings, and learn the art of paper cutting.
We’ll have a range of entertainment including folk songs from Ireland, Sweden, Galicia, Wales and Iran, Chinese dance performances and Samulnori (Korean drumming).

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)

Highwic Pop-up Christmas Shop
The annual Highwic Pop-up Christmas shop opens on Friday 29th November, 1pm – 4pm (join us for complimentary drinks, Christmas mince pies, and croquet on the lawn), and runs through until Sunday 22nd December.
Lots of lovely stocking fillers, tree decorations, and retro inspired gifts.
Shop entry is free normal house entry applies
Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga Members receive a 10% discount in the shop.
