Smiths Bush Scenic Reserve temporarily closed from 25 Sept

John Gillon from John Gillon - Kaipatiki Local Board

UPDATE: The date has been brought forward and Smiths Bush will now be closed from Thursday 21 September until the end of November.

Smiths Bush Scenic Reserve will be closed from Monday 25 September until late November while the boardwalk is repaired.
All of the older boardwalk (shown in red on the map) will be removed and replaced. The rest of the boardwalk will be tidied up and repaired. All 8 seats will be cleaned and painted.
In the meantime, this is a good opportunity to explore our other parks. Try nearby Stancich Reserve which also has boardwalk through the bush.

Smiths Bush is an extremely important and fragile remnant of old world forest. The boardwalk helps to protect the tree roots and precious undergrowth from damage.

- Project funded by the Kaipātiki Local Board
