New Zealand has seen a surge of cases of Hepatitis A this year and 12 of those infected (including seven hospitalised) have been linked with the consumption of frozen berries.
The recall of Pams products is a precaution due to this possible link of Hepatitis A associated with berries sourced from Serbia.
Here's what you need to know:
- All batches and all dates of Pams Mixed Berries, Two Berry Mix, Smoothie Berry Mix, and Raspberries have been recalled and removed from supermarkets.
- The Pams products are sold at New World, PAK’nSAVE and Four Square stores nationwide.
- Hepatitis A is a contagious virus which spreads easily. Learn more here.
- Due to the possibility that other brands of berries may be infected, New Zealand Food Safety continues to advise those eating frozen berries to wash hands before and after preparing the berries, briefly boil them before eating and ensure cooking temperatures exceed 85 degree Celsius for 1 minute.
If you have consumed any of these products and have any concerns about your health, seek medical advice.

Police are asking for help from the public to locate a 21-year-old Auckland woman who has not been seen since the early hours of 30 September.
Aimee-Jane Smith went missing early in the morning from her home in St Heliers. She was wearing white shoes, dark shorts and a light blue or grey coloured sweat shirt. She is five foot three inches tall, has dark hair (as in the second photo below) and has a distinctive tattoo down her left leg.
This is the second time Aimee-Jane Smith has disappeared in the past week - she was first reported missing from St Lukes Mall last Wednesday and was found the next day.
Her family, friends and police have serious concerns for her welfare and want to make sure she is safe, they are asking anyone who has seen her to contact police immediately.
If you have information about her whereabouts, please call police on 111 or contact 105, referencing file number 220930/4710.

In conjunction with SI San Diego (one of our Friendship Links) SI North Shore are providing an ‘Educate to Lead Award’ to a woman who is the primary financial carer for her family. As part of Gumboot Friday, we are partnering up with Samantha to bring this amazing talk about supporting children with change & uncertainty. This is certainly what the Pandemic has brought us in bucket loads.
Do any of these sound familiar?
How do I know if my child is behind at school?
What can I do to support my kid(s) not becoming overly worried?
Is it ‘normal’ for my child to ask these questions (insert any question you like)?
Just when I think I know how to deal with this – we have something else go on
Feeling exhausted
Experiencing sudden moments of feeling overwhelmed
Changes in appetite, diet and sleeping patterns
Supporting the wellbeing of children has no easy fix; it is an ongoing journey of connection and communication.
Join Samantha for this interactive face to face session where we will explore the impacts of change and uncertainty (such as Covid) on children and caregivers whilst drawing upon up to date theory and research in this area.
Areas covered will include: -
Why is this Pandemic so hard for us all, especially our children?
Habits and practices to support children to thrive
The crucial Covid lessons for children
Safeguarding children’s wellbeing
