Hi neighbours,

From March 1, it will cost rural communities more to fill up their water tanks.

The cost to fill a tanker with 10,000 litres of water will rise by about $25 from $13.86 to $39 (+GST).

It reflects the cost of providing water at filling stations- a service which has been heavily subsidised for many years, Watercare says.

The new charge comes into force during the summer peak to reduce pressure on rural and coastal communities.

For those of you in rural Auckland on tank water, what is your view on the increase?

And your reasons?

Please put NFP if you do not want your comments used by Stuff.

It is a pity to see that a picture of a pig is used to advertise on the packaging...please give consideration to how this food is made cheaper...hopefully not through supporting cruel or caged farming practices. Emerging designer Michael Day has won a prestigious fashion title for this colourful ensemble.

The 23-year-old took the 2020 winner's prize for the Resene Colour of Fashion on Thursday night.

The Pakuranga resident was awarded with a sewing machine, a pair of engraved shears and fabric vouchers, worth a total $1000.

Day said earlier he was looking forward to getting some feedback from the judges.

"I was full of good nerves," he said.

"Nerves keep you pushing."

The young designer takes military style elements like cargo pockets and silhouettes from clothes worn by revolutionaries into his designs.
