Godwits welcomed to Shoal and Ngataringa Bays
A very good number of the community welcomed the return of the Godwits to Devonport Peninsula, Labour Weekend Saturday. We took part in a mihi to the flock roosting just off-shore on a rare shell-bank, acknowledged the elements of our special environment and heard how the birds' flight-path has been tracked and of the risks to their habitat world-wide - including New Zealand. Thanks to Auckland Council and Local Community Ranger, Devonport Peninsula Trust, New World Devonport, Shore to Thrive, Oona Caldwell, BeanBoy , Tāmaki Makaurau Placemaking Week 2018, and Forest & Bird North Shore. Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
