Matt Campbell & Lleuarne Panoho
It was an absolute pleasure to join the Beach Haven & Birkdale Community Watch patrol last night with Lleuarne Panoho for Kaipātiki Local Board
Patrols like this are key to help stop crime and antisocial behaviour and help establish safe caring communities. I’ve been a member of Neighbourhood Support for several years and a street contact on Rangatira Road so community-led action on crime is super important to me.
I was particularly impressed with the gentle monitoring style of the patrols, being seen with clear branding, filing reports on to the police where appropriate, and keeping it local to build trust and stronger connections with the community.
Beach Haven & Birkdale Community Watch are doing great work and have awesome plans for the future but need help. If you are able to volunteer with a two hour patrol once a week or once a month do get in touch. Also these patrols depend on your generosity to keep going so please support them on their Give A Little page.

I look forward to volunteering on more patrols in the near future so that we get more patrols in Beach Haven and Birkdale.

Poll: Would you commute by public transport if it was free?
Using your car is convenient, except for finding parking.
Cycling lets you leave anytime, but you might arrive soaked.
So, neighbours, if public transport had the perk of being free, would it be your main way to commute?

Plastic pickup with bonus battery on Takapuna Beach
Short evening pickup run included a swelling lithium battery pack from a drone - circled in red. Found it on the sea wall, so someone was thoughtful enough not to put in the nearby rubbish bin.
