Northcote ferry service will be back in operation from Monday
Good news - The Northcote ferry service will be back in operation from Monday morning (weather permitting).
Auckland Transport and Fullers360 have spent the week implementing changes to prevent a repeat of the incident last weekend that hurt a ferry crew-member and stopped the ferry service.
Changes include the installation of additional hooks at Te Onewa Northcote Point wharf to allow improved use of fixed lines (used to safely secure a vessel during boarding and alighting by customers), and improvements around the management of ropes and fixed lines, updated crew instructions, and additional measures to be delivered over coming weeks and months.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
