Manukau East Shopping Shuttle

Lindsay Upton from Manukau East Council of Social Services (MECOSS)

A major concern of senior citizens is transportation. Many elderly people no longer drive and many who still can, dread and avoid the experience.
One of the popular transportation services available in Auckland's Manukau East is MECOSS' Manukau East Shopping Shuttle. It's a door to door service every Thursday to Botany Town Centre or Pakuranga Plaza. $10 includes the return trip, two hours of shopping, plus a free cup of tea or coffee over a chat.
Ninety per cent of MECOSS' drivers and companion shoppers are themselves retired locals. They understand when their passengers may need a helping hand and/or assistance from readily available mobility equipment.
The Manukau East Shopping Shuttle pick-up area inludes: Howick, Bucklands Beach peninsular, Pakuranga, Dannemora, Chapel Road and Stancombe Road. Phone: 0800 632 677

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
