Are you the Special Someone our animals have been waiting for?
From Sat 6 July – Sun 21 July, we are waiving adoption fees for our long-stay residents for the right home.*
They might be older, shy, have only three legs or just need that extra bit of attention and care – but they all deserve a loving home. And they have been waiting for a long time for that Special Love!
Look for the ‘Special Love Needed’ tag on our adoption profiles, check you can provide what they need to flourish & apply online at www.spca.nz....
*The offer applies to animals looking for homes for more than 40 days; our usual adoption criteria and processes apply.

What's your favourite tomato recipe?
Kia ora neighbours. We know your tomato plants are still growing, but we're looking ahead to the harvest already! If you've got a family recipe for tomatoes, we'd love to see it and maybe publish it in our magazine to share with our readers. Send your recipe to mailbox@nzgardener.co.nz, and if we use it in the mag, you will receive a free copy of our February 2025 issue.
Ridiculous Fuel Pricing!
I opted to drive down 5kms to Waitomo Epsom, where fuel prices are lower compared to anywhere in Mount Roskill. On a full fuel tank of about 40 liters, you'll save around $8.5 overall, and this is without any discounts at Waitomo. Mobile Epsom is still cheaper, and the savings would have been $12 or more.
This math of pump pricing is beyond me as the source/starting point of the tankers is more or less the same and the suburbs aren't that far away 🤔.
