Some McPhail St residents are investigating our options for sprucing up the walkway between McPhail St and Beach Haven Rds.

One of the recurring suggestions is for artists to paint murals on the blank canvas that are the fences. It is a fairly long walkway as far as painting is concerned, so if the artist was not opposed to the community helping to do the actual painting itself to get as many people involved as possible? It will still be a huge job, but hopefully the more hands the merrier?
If anyone is able to help/point us in the right direction for the following we would be very grateful:
1. Does anyone know who is responsible for the actual walkway itself? (to gain permission from)
2. Does anyone know of have any lighting solutions for the walkway that wouldn't annoy the bordering neighbours?
3. Do you have ideas about what images would be great to see there?
4. Are you an artist who is looking for a huge, long blank canvas to work on?...and would enjoy looking into how the community could also be involved to carry out your masterpiece?
5. Funding! Does anyone know of any funding options available for this kind of project?!

Any help/advice with any of the above would be grately appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Outgoing Retirement Commissioner Diane Maxwell has been outspoken about the need to increase the pension age from 65.

"You used to get super for five years, then 10 and now 20 - soon it'll be 30. I'm not sure how we can fund people getting super for 30 years or more."

New Zealand has one of the simplest pension schemes in the world - all you have to do is be old enough and have lived in the country long enough and you can get it.

But that also makes it expensive - about $14.5 billion this year. Jobseeker benefits, by comparison, cost just $1.7b and sole parent support $1.08b.

In February, Auckland Transport installed paid parking near Albany bus station on the North Shore in its efforts to curb poor and illegal parking aggravated by an overflowing park and ride.

Auckland Transport (AT) introduced the charges to help manage on-street parking in the town centre, which was near-capacity.

However, of the 1258 public submissions received on the paid parking zone, 85 per cent were opposed. Read more.
