BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
This is an informative article highlighting the importance of regular breast care and checkup for exploring any noticeable changes that may require medical attention & investigation to detect any unexpected & unfortunate growth of cancer, at an early stage before it gets too late to treat.
Breast Size & shape
Primarily women consider Breast Size & shape as a symbol of beauty, self-esteem, self-confidence, breastfeeding, sexual attraction, and arousal. Many women feel conscious and concerned about size and shape giving rise to certain misconceptions but the fact remains that there is no possible impact on their ability of womanhood nor may have any connection with origin of breast cancer.
While the exact cause of breast cancer may not be known but other than size & shape there appear to be some probable risk factors that need special attention, as well as care, are:- Family history,. however hormonal changes, environmental factors, obesity or overweight, excess alcohol intake, age factor, early or late Menopause, chronicle health disorders, etc.
Hence it is pertinent to take proper care of breast health which may be helpful to a large extent in preventing and reducing the chances of cancer.
Breast tissue;
Normally cancer can likely develop & originate from breast tissue & women need to pay special attention to any unusual signs like a lump in the breast, a change in its shape, dimpling of the skin, fluid coming from the nipple, a newly inverted nipple, or a red or scaly patch of skin on the breast and in which case one must seek immediate medical attention.
lack of care and awareness
Due to lack of care and awareness, it has been experienced that BREAST CANCER HAS often remained undetected in a large number of cases till it reaches the serious or even the last stage when treatment may not be effective.
IMPORTANCE OF SELF EXAMINATION
Hence IMPORTANCE OF SELF EXAMINATION & AWARENESS CAN NOT BE OVERLOOKED. The best way is to have regular SELF EXAMINATION and GENTLE BREAST MASSAGE to observe any noticeable changes requiring medical attention. Massage combined with self-examination can help to detect any lumps or abnormalities early in their development enabling immediate medical attention and timely treatment.
REGULAR GENTLE BREAST MASSAGE
This can also provide multiple health benefits such as; alleviating muscle tension, activating energy, refreshing the breast skin; improving the inner circulatory system, flushing the lymph system increasing lactation, boosting immunity, unblocks energy channels, reducing the risk of breast cancer, and allows to feel more & deep connection with the body.
AYURVEDA APPROACH
It relies mostly on Breast massage as an effective preventive measure that allows movement of stagnant energy from vulnerable areas boosting the immune system and also helps to FLUSH the LYMPH SYSTEM that mainly depends on movement, stretching, and light activity as it does not have any pumping support like the heart.
SELF MASSAGING
Generally, it is easy as there is no right or wrong method and Some of the following suggested steps for breast massage may be helpful;
Apply only gentle pressure, light touch, circular motions, and smooth strokes.
May use any basic heated oil like sesame or sunflower or others.
Cup your breast with your hand from underneath & massage gently from the outer breast area towards the nipple.
Now from the nipples Continue circular motion/ slow clockwise circle, moving towards the outside area of the breasts and from there onwards to the armpits and breastbone.
The movement of hands upward toward the collarbone, shoulder joint, and neck can also help to detoxify the lymph nodes and unclog any channels.
Preventive measures & Homecare;
Some of the following Home care preventing steps involve healthy & nutritious food habits and physical activities that can be helpful for complimenting & supplementing any ongoing medical treatment;
probiotic foods, sprouted ancient grains, fresh vegetable & fruit raw juices, carrots, apples, immune-boosting foods,
Herbs & kitchen spices, Mushrooms, Astragalus, Dandelion Root, Ginseng, Hops, Licorice, ashwagandha, bhringraja, bitter melon, Basil, garlic. Ginger & turmeric.

Move for Good! Peer fundraising to save rescued baby wild birds
BirdCare Aotearoa, NZ's largest wild bird hospital and rehabilitation centre, is a special charity based in Waitākere, Auckland providing life-saving care to around 6,000 wild birds rescued by community members each year. Many of these patients are endangered native and endemic species. It’s currently baby bird season, and we urgently need to raise enough funds to cover the significant cost of the specialised care required for raising the thousands of orphaned and injured baby birds we receive in our dedicated nurseries during summertime.
As part of our current fundraising campaign, we have launched 'Move for Good', a peer fundraiser encouraging people of all ages to get out into nature and participate in an event (e.g. a walk, run, cycle or swim) or a hike, bushwalk, orienteering, or other fun outdoor activity (e.g. Birdie Bingo shown on our website) and invite friends and family to join or sponsor their challenge, to raise funds to help our hospital continue saving rescued baby birds.
Move for Good is proudly supported by Allbirds and Tree Adventures, and everyone who registers will go in the draw to win a pair of eco-friendly Allbirds sneakers or a Tree Adventures double pass.
We’ll give away a Give a Hoot tote bag from our Digitees store to the first five participants to complete a challenge before 22nd December.

It will be absolutely wonderful if our neighbourhood communities would like to participate in our Move for Good campaign to save rescued baby birds!
Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
