Police warn of phone scam

Neighbourly.co.nz

Police are warning the public to "be vigilant" when receiving cold calls after a Timaru woman was scammed out of $30,000 this week.

A caller claiming to be from Spark convinced the victim to allow them to access her bank account, and then withdrew the money.

Police are reminding the public to "never disclose personal information, banking information or passwords".
