Heavy rain warning
MetService has issued a heavy rain warning for Gisborne north of Ruatoria.
Valid: 24 hours from 2:00am Wednesday to 2:00am Thursday.
Forecast: Periods of heavy rain. Expect 100 to 120mm of rain to accumulate during this period. Peak rates of 10 to 20 mm/h, and thunderstorms possible.
An update for severe weather will be issued by 9:00pm Tuesday 3 Sep 2019.

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
