Passengers on flight from Auckland to Palmerston North exposed to measles

Passengers on a flight from Auckland to Palmerston North are at risk of catching measles after travelling with someone with the illness.

Passengers on flight Air NZ 5119 from Auckland to Palmerston North at 7.20am on Saturday, July 6 and Air NZ 5114 from Palmerston North to Auckland at 2.30pm on Sunday, July 7 may have been exposed to the measles infection from a passenger who flew prior to being diagnosed

Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) director Dr Julia Peters said anyone on these flights, or anyone in Auckland or Palmerston North's domestic terminals around these times, should be on the look out for symptoms of measles.

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
