Random Acts of Kindness Day - this SATURDAY
In preparation for Random Acts of Kindness Day, 1 September 2018, Splice is raising the volume, on the potential of kindness as a force for good in the community.
For our third year running, Splice will once again be hitting the main street of the city centre neighbourhood handing out 5000x “Little Pots of Kindness” (honey) and a kindness card, encouraging the contagious nature of kindness. Members of The Auckland Street Choir will be on hand for a little joyously kind singing too.
A number of cafes around the city centre will be surprising their customers with a free coffee and local supermarket, New World Metro on Queen St are coming to the kindness party too. In addition to some in-store acts of kindness, New World Metro’s coffee kiosk will be delivering coffees for a gold coin donation. These donations will go toward the Community Fridge at Griffiths Gardens (Wellesley St West), the fridge that helps feed streeties and others in need.
The above activities will be occurring from 8am onward Friday 31 August 2018 heralding Random Acts of Kindness Day 1 September on Saturday.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
Do you think this ban is reasonable?
