Advocates urge council to look after lowest-paid workers
Living wage advocates have urged the Invercargill City Council to join the movement and help its lowest-paid workers “live with dignity’’.
Representatives of the Living Wage Bluff group spoke to councillors at a meeting on Tuesday.
They asked the council to become an accredited living wage employer.
New Zealand has a minimum wage of $18.90 an hour but the living wage was calculated at $22.10.
