Tinwald traffic delays overnight from Monday for up to six nights

The Team Reporter from The Press

People who travel at night through Tinwald, on SH1, will face short delays from tonight (Monday, November 1) and all this week overnight.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency crews is removing the old highway surface between Manchester and Graham streets and laying new asphalt.

A single lane of traffic will be available 7pm to 6am, with stop/go manual traffic management keeping people moving. Emergency services will be accommodated at all times, Waka Kotahi journey manager Tresca Forrester says.

“This work is of necessity quite noisy, but crews will do their best to get it done as quickly as possible in the overnight hours when traffic numbers are at their lowest.”

The work is weather dependent so a wet night may cause the work to roll onto the next dry night.

At this stage, the work will take place Monday to Friday and Sunday night (November 7) if needed.

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Drivers get where they need to go, but sometimes it seems that we are all abiding by different road rules (for example, the varying ways drivers indicate around a roundabout).
Do you think drivers should be required to take a quick driving theory test every 10 years?

Vote in the poll and share any road rules that you've seen bent! 😱
