WCC Club History Established in 1984 by coaching legend Alan Whimp, Weymouth Cricket began as a Junior Club at Weymouth Primary School. Soon after, the club found its permanent home at Mountfort Park in the Manurewa Sports Centre, utilising the classic cricket oval known as Weymouth Oval. Growth and Development Weymouth Cricket is part of the Counties Manukau Cricket and Northern Districts cricket associations. The Weymouth Cricket club is situated in the Manurewa/Clendon area in south Auckland. The area has one of the lowest socio-economic areas in New Zealand with a low average income. Despite these challenges, Weymouth Cricket has strived to be a welcoming and inclusive space for the community. A Community Club: Making Cricket Accessible Recognizing the financial barriers that can prevent participation in sports, Weymouth Cricket prioritises affordability. We keep membership fees low and provide most of the necessary playing gear to our members. This commitment ensures everyone in the community has the opportunity to experience the joy of cricket. Through various fundraising initiatives and generous sponsorships, we strive to remove financial obstacles and create a truly inclusive environment for all. Our dedicated Grants Manager further strengthens these efforts by actively seeking funding opportunities to support our affordability initiatives. Looking Forward Weymouth Cricket remains committed to fostering a love for the game in the Manurewa community. With its home base at Mountfort Park's historic Weymouth Oval, the club looks forward to many more seasons of success and community engagement. The appointment of a Grants Manager further strengthens our ability to secure funding and maintain our commitment to affordability and inclusivity.
