The depth of lacrosse talent in Te Awamutu has considerablely increased over the last 5 years especially now that there are Waikato Competitions for Winter and Summer Leagues for girls, boys, men & women.
For most players, part of the attraction of lacrosse is the challenge of making the game your own, compared to other sports where managing and coaching roles are usually filled by adults with experience in the game. As a relatively young sport in New Zealand, many players relish the opportunity to share their passion for the game through playing, coaching and umpiring.
Many players are involved with coaching teams for either at Te Awamutu College or Te Awamutu Intermediate. It is not an understatement to say that they live and breathe lacrosse, with training and coaching up to four days a week. In the Lacrosse Community the team spirit is very high because it is a very fun sport and it also keeps you fit. Everyone plays because they enjoy it and they are grateful for opportunities that lacrosse has given.
Some players get to travel and meet new people. There are tournaments at all levels; Regional, National and International. There are many players from the Waikato region that have and still compete on an International level.
Great Fun with Great People...
