At the Taranaki Taekwon-Do club we practice the Chang hon style of Taekwon-Do as created by General Choi Hong Hi. We have a dedicated team of instructors and black belts that teach all aspects of our martial art. The general Taekwon-do class caters for all ages and abilities from 10 years old upwards. On any given night we may have a beginning student right through to a 72 year old 5th degree black belt (Dale Copeland) who has become a bit of a living legend within our club. having a vast array of black belts we can insure that all coloured belt receive personal attention within a class. We train for 11 months of the year taking a break over the Christmas period so everyone can recharge. This is important as we have many events over the year such as gradings, seminars, camps, TKD games (tournaments) etc. Although we have our TKD games our club is very much about the art. If you are looking for a tournament scene in martial arts then this is not the club for you. Focusing on the art ensures that Taranaki Taekwon-Do is inclusive of all ages and abilities that focuses on the quality of the person. That is not say that we don't train hard and expect high standards. We do. However they have to be realistic. For example you can't judge a 40 year old mother of 3 against a 20 year old male with no family responsibilities.
