Community consultation has shown great ideas and keen involvement from many different people and groups within a stone's throw of the park. Nelson City council is supportive and will part fund the project but are encouraging us to seek funds from elsewhere. This project is just the start of supporting the Tahunanui Community to learn about placemaking and create safe spaces, the community centre has the capacity to bring many groups and individuals together to encourage full participation. Ideas that have come from the community are shaded seating, raised stage, lighting, natural play/climbing such as boulders and logs, butterfly gardens, fruit trees, community noticeboard, artwork, static exercise bikes, chess board, basketball hoop and skate ramp. Without further funding, Tahunanui Community Centre cannot guide this project. Attached is a photo of the space and a blank canvas we create to gather ideas from all ages. Consultation is ongoing is the various stages of the project, Tahunanui Community centre hopes that by being involved in this project this will inspire others to take on other projects in their community. Thank you so much for your time and consideration for this community organisation.
