The aim of the Talanoa is to… View moreThe SMC Pasifika Student and Parent Committee are proud to present their first ever Pasifika Roots Talanoa / conference. This is a free event which will be held on Saturday 18 July in the St Mary’s College Cecilia Maher Hall here at 11 New Street, Ponsonby, Auckland.
The aim of the Talanoa is to provide support for young people to help them thrive at school and within their families and communities. There will be wonderful guest speakers including past pupils Lupesina Koro and Nele Kalolo, as well as food and entertainment.
As this is our first Talanoa, we are in need of a small amount of financial support to help us bring it all together. If you can help in any small way please email jsheehan@stmaryak.school.nz
We will also provide great recognition for your support both pre and post-event.

This special event will be held on Thursday 5 March in the Paul Keane Gymnasium here at 11 New Street, Ponsonby.
Two separate two-hour sessions will be run, with the first one beginning at 2:30pm, followed by an evening session at 6:30pm. The event includes a warm welcome from new Principal, Sarah Dwan, and will be closely followed by guided tours from senior pupils.
During this wonderful event, you will have the opportunity to view the lovely school grounds located in the heart of Ponsonby. You will also visit the brand new Mother Bernard Towers Science Centre, the recently opened Sister Marcienne Kirk English Centre, School Chapel, Sister Loreto Centre for Religious Education and Visual Arts, Technology Buildings, Veronica Delany Library, swimming pool, classrooms and much more.
Everyone is welcome, including prospective students, parents / caregivers and grandparents. Please note, there are stairs on the tour route.
