The school has a strong academic focus which follows an Integrated Project-Based Curriculum. Students are grouped into 'villas' of up to 60 children, each led by an Academic Manager, with class sizes limited to 15. Uniform and stationery provided free.

In addition, 21C Skills Lab founders Justine Munro and Faye Langdon will discuss 'Tomorrows skills for today's students'. This workshop will cover what Growth Mindset is, why it is important, the evidence that supports it and the skills to achieve it - in yourself and others. Hosted in conjunction with Ormiston Junior College, the ticket price includes a supporters pack, entrance to an education expo and refreshments. Book early to avoid disappointment - tickets to events in conjunction with Matthew Syed* are limited and costly - this is a fantastic opportunity to attend an international accredited keynote speaker in Auckland and to learn skills to assist in all aspects of life. Mt Hobson Middle School aims to work well for students of all abilities. Extending many, and working hard at strengths as well as overcoming weaknesses, it provides an outstanding programme for Years 7 - 10.with our Year 10 graduates going on to succeed in private and state schools throughout Auckland (as well as some staying in our Year 11-13 NCEA Academy).
Features are:
1) Maximum of 12 students per class.
2) A superb teaching staff - including Amanda Smith, our Learning Coach, who provides individual and group support and ensures the task set are pitched at the correct level to ensure success.
3) Five core subjects thoroughly taught - Maths, Science, Social Studies, English and Technology.
4) Eight structured projects each year covering the whole NZ curriculum - students work on these one hour per day. building research and presentation skills and learning time management and organisation.
5) A four hour uninterrupted academic morning each day.
6) An Arts and Activities afternoon - Music, Art, Community Learning, Community Service and Sport.

We are ****** grandparents. We have seen a wonderful calmness and positive energy developing within him, it may of course be due to his age progress, however I do think he has found his "Fit" with this school and their personalised coaching programme . We all know every child is different and the "one size fits all" approach to education does not work for every child. Regrettably only the most diligent of parents are going to find this right fit for their children. Congratulations **** and ******* you would appear to have finally found the right fit for *****. For those looking for something more positive the "Open Day" will be a small insight to what you might need.
