Special offer of tropical milkweed plants, alternative to swan plant with colourful flowers - great for nectar for butterflies and bees 🐝 too.

These plants are in great condition, some flowering now, between 10 cm and 30 cm tall. Both Asclepias curassavica Silky Gold (with yellow flowers) as well as A. curassavica Silky Scarlet (scarlet flowers with gold centres). Plants are perennials, lasting 2-3 years and can grow to 1.5 metres and 2 metres wide.

Thanks to the support of our sponsors … View moreEach year the MBNZT produces a stunning calendar to raise funds for their projects covering the conservation of NZ's butterflies. Our 2019 calendar is going to become a collector’s item – and it is another way you can show your support for the cause. Thanks to the support of our sponsors our annual calendar is a great fundraiser for the MBNZT, helping with projects. Many of those photos have never been seen before.

The calendars are 297mm wide x 210mm high when closed, or 297mm wide x 420 mm high when open. With one month per page, each page features a different NZ butterfly or moth.

The MBNZT is recognising those garden centres which will not sell swan plants which have pesticide on them. These garden centres will use the ‘Butterfly Tick’ (illustrated) and their staff will also be able to give you extra advice on such things as

· other species of milkweed,
· annual and perennial nectar plants to bring butterflies (and bees),
· host plants to attract other species of butterfly and moth.
