Lake Taupo Hospice provides palliative care to patients who are nearing the end of their life’s journey. We are a community based hospice where our focus is on caring for people in their homes. Our motto is “Living Every Moment” so we give anyone who is dying the opportunity to celebrate their life and this theme is reflected in all the services we offer. We care about our patients’ quality of life, their comfort and their wellbeing. Hospice is a philosophy of care which extends beyond the physical needs of a person to their emotional, social and spiritual needs and those of their family. And our care doesn’t stop when a patient dies, we continue to assist and help those loved ones left behind. At Lake Taupo Hospice our nurses and hospice volunteers travel extensively throughout the district, which includes northern National Park, Turangi, Kuratau, Taupo, through to Tarawera on SH5. They provide our services completely free of charge to our patients, their families and friends both before and after a death irrespective of their social status, financial circumstances, age, gender or religion.
