This is a 5 year native forest regeneration project on part of the Wellington Town Belt. It aims to speed the regrowth of forest by "succession planting" to attract the bird and insect life that promote the process naturally. Succession planting introduces native plant species that are missing to supply nectar and fruit year-round for bird and insect life. Research shows that it can speed the process by 10-50 years, depending on the plant species. Keen volunteers are welcome.
