The AGM will report on recent activities and future plans, review our constitution and elect our Committee.
Following the (short) AGM we will hear from our 3 Western Ward Councillors – Diane Calvert, Rebecca Matthews, and Ray Chung - and there will be an opportunity to ask questions on matters that concern you and other Northland residents.
The AGM gives us the mandate to keep operating, so we hope to see you all on Thursday.

WCC advise that site noise measurements were taken on 19 July 2018.
We have asked the Council if we can publish the report (still waiting for a response).... The measurements were made at two locations on Paisley Terrace and on the road at about 72 Curtis Street. Council advise that the noise at street level at the Curtis Street location was just above the recommended upper limit for construction noise in residential zones (of 70 dBA Leq).
So, if you think it is noisy - you are right. This is possibly exacerbated by the valley location. FYI the following is the advice that we received from WCC:
"We will continue to visit the site as circumstances and monitoring expectations require, but in terms of noise, specifically, will only act on complaints.. Complaints, if made, must be supported (and would help us) if they advised:
· Date and time
· Prevailing weather conditions (e.g. windy and with potential to ‘carry ‘ noise)
· The types of equipment being used – trucks, diggers, excavators, rollers, etc
· The numbers of pieces of equipment being used at any one time( so cumulative effects might be determined)".

A teacher at Kindercare told me that the children are enjoying their close views of the trucks and diggers.

Prime Property (the site owner) are now doing earthworks to create the building platform for future buildings. … View moreIn late 2015, WCC passed a district plan change to create the Curtis Street Business Area at 55-85 Curtis St, allowing the site to be developed for commercial and retail activities.
Prime Property (the site owner) are now doing earthworks to create the building platform for future buildings. The earthworks must be carried out in accordance with the consent granted to Prime Property by WCC, and WCC must monitor compliance with the consent conditions, which include:
• Hours of work: Monday-Saturday 7:30 am - 6 pm
• Limit of 6 “bulk haul trucks” per hour, 9:30 am -2:30 pm
• No work or truck movements on Sundays or public holidays
• Afterhours contact details to be displayed on a noticeboard at the site entrance
• Dust and sediment controls must be put in place
• Plans and controls are also required for noise, traffic and public safety
• Duration of works – up to 50 weeks
A copy of the full consent is on our website (www.cvra.org.nz) along with a summary of the conditions.
CVRA are meeting with the Council next week to discuss the monitoring programme, and confirm communication channels if neighbours and residents have concerns or are affected by the works.
