BirdCare Aotearoa provides care and rehabilitation for sick, injured, and orphaned wild birds.
Based in Green Bay, Auckland, BirdCare Aotearoa is the largest bird rehabilitation facility in Aotearoa, admitting over 6,000 patients annually. In 2021, we admitted 6,710 birds of 175 different species!
While many of our patients are natives, no wild bird in need is turned away from our centre. We accept and care for native and non-native species, including orphaned chicks and victims of cat attacks, road accidents, pollution, human cruelty, and adverse weather.
As a non-profit that receives no government funding, we rely entirely on the generosity of our wonderful supporters. Every dollar donated enables us to provide veterinary care, nutritious food and suitable habitats for the thousands of birds brought to our hospital every year – giving them the best possible chance of release back into the wild.
Thanks to your support, we give wild birds a second chance at life.
