Time to take action if you are unhappy about Council Contractors
Hi everyone,
Most people agree that the new bulk contracts that Council has let for mowing, litter, cleaning, maintenance are under-performing. Many parts of the contract are not being fulfilled and clearly Council is putting insufficient effort into ensuring we are getting value for money.
Apart from moaning to each other what can we do?
We can log jobs to ensure there is visibility of work not done. I know we pay our rates for people to manage these contracts but this is not being done, at least in my neighborhood. Did you know you can ring 093010101 and log jobs that are not done? Yes you will wait in a lengthy queue (about 12 minutes average for me, longest 25minutes) and then will probably have to ring back to follow up but it is rewarding to finally get the Council to get the contractors to do the work that they are getting paid for (from our money) but not doing.
If you live in my area you may have noticed Moana Ave central traffic/ tree islands haven't been mown for about 3 months but were last week- that's because I rang 093010101 and told them. I go to Onehunga pool and gym and have several times logged a job to clean up the disgraceful litter and tree debris that collects out the front and makes it look third world. First round took 2 months to achieve but was done. The contract is 'outcome based so is not on a regularity but should never be untidy.

Cheers.
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
