Air New Zealand engineers call off Christmas strike
Three days of Christmas strike action (starting 21st Dec) by Air New Zealand engineers that could have affected 120,000 air travellers has been called off. Talks concluded at 10pm last night and E tū union members say their core aims have largely been achieved, E tū said in a statement. However, specifc details about the offer will not be made public until union members have been briefed. E tū head of aviation, Savage, said travellers will be relieved the strike action has been called off.

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
