The first library in New Lynn was opened in 1957 and held just 7000 books. The current library now holds nearly 50,000 items in a custom-designed building opened in 2005. The collection includes fiction, non-fiction, large print, magazines, DVDs, multicultural and Maori, not to mention access to Auckland Libraries Digital Library. Upstairs, you can browse the Reference collection, get extra help from a Reference Librarian and enjoy our computer suite with free internet and a range of computer classes. We also offer a fun and friendly Children's area, a space especially for Teens, and lots of happy, helpful librarians. We look forward to seeing you at New Lynn War Memorial Library.
