Are you concerned about the level of policing near you?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Twizel residents are questioning whether two police officers are enough to cover the growing town and say Tekapo is too far away to wait for police cover when they are on leave.

Mid-South Canterbury area commander Inspector Dave Gaskin said when Twizel-based senior constables Les Andrew and Jamie Reid are on leave or rostered days off, the area is covered by police based in Tekapo - which is almost forty minutes away.

It's too far, according to Twizel community board chair Jacqui de Buyzer who said the arrangement was "really concerning" and putting a lot of pressure on the town's emergency service volunteers. De Buyzer said members of the community have discussed their concerns after the town had no police cover last weekend.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
