Adventurous Hugo - Local young Porirua boy

Kerry from Waitangirua

Hi, I'm Hugo, and I am 3 years old. I was born at 33 weeks and have Cerebral Palsy.

The type of Cerebral Palsy I have is called Spastic Quadriplegia, which for me means, that both my arms and legs are very tight and makes walking (and other things) really hard and painful for me to do the simplest of tasks.

Currently I have a wheelchair to get around in, but I really want to be just like all the others my age, and do all the simple things most people take for granted.

There is a surgery called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR), which is unavailable in NZ, but performed at St Louis Children's Hospital in America. SDR is a surgery that reduces the tightness of muscles. I'm on the waiting list for a date in May 2018.

If I have the SDR surgery, it will help me function in a more natural normal way and will give me the hope of walking instead of being confined to a wheelchair. This will be life changing for me and my family. All costs associated with his surgery are in access of $125k.

This is going to be a long journey for me and my family. We are making our first step towards the fundraising by putting this on the give-a-little site. We are asking you to join us by making a donation.

Please check out this link:

Funds raised will help Hugo and his family on this journey to allow him to have a better quality of life.
