Started in 2011 by Nick Blake and Michelle Fyson, Whirlwind is a
Wellington based design business. With backgrounds in theatre, film and
design we work together to create an eclectic mix of wares- accessories, wind sculptures, home wares , lighting and gifts
Some creations are assemblages of discarded materials, crafted into new
objects paying homage to historical and international design - others
interpret our place in the world, in new ways.
On our travels we meet other artisans and occasionally buy collections from them. And sometimes we find great materials to bring back to create our own collections inspired by our experiences.
Our works and the materials we use echo our surroundings. The places we
live and work are wild, full of history and always changing. Many objects
at Whirlwind will exist only once.
Our store is open 10am -5pm at 9a Park Road., Miramar , Wellington, right next door to the Roxy Cinema.
