Hospices
Waipuna Hospice provides specialist medical care for patients living with a life-limiting illness, & support services for them & their families. Our geographical area covers Waihi Beach to Paengaroa and while our focus is on Hospice at Home, we have a 9 bed Inpatient Unit for short term admissions & a Day Services Clinic. Our services are provided 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
You'll often hear the term palliative care which means alleviating without curing. Hospice specialises in providing palliative care, symptom control & pain management where cure is no longer an option. We also offer support services to patients & their support networks from family, friends, neighbours, or staff at rest homes & hospital.
This year we expect to care for 1000 patients & provide support services for their families. Last year our nurses made more than 14,320 visits & 20,000 phone calls to patients in the community. We need to raise over $3.7 million this year to continue providing our services.
