If your heat pump air conditioner smells bad like fish, old boots etc or you don't know what to clean your appliance with come on down.
1.check your filters are clean,
dirty filters can cause the system to short cycle or fault, it happens when it can't draw enough air in, a bit like suffocating. This can also lead to over heat or supercooling for to long causing icing up and leaking water into the home.

dirty filters can cause the system to short cycle or fault, it happens when it can't draw enough air in, a bit like suffocating. This can also lead to over heat or supercooling for to long causing icing up and leaking water into the home.
2.Check there is no build up of lint or dust on the coil fins.
The Coil fins are radiator looking thing you see when you remove the filters.
If there is a build up of lint , dust, mould on the fins you need to remove this with a brush or vacuum. Be careful not to bend the fins as they are very soft.
If there is a build up on the fins, when cooling it will allow ice to attach and this will lead to leaking and water damage inside the home or office.
3. Disinfect the system.
By using Supercell.co.nz DIY Home Heat Pump Air Conditioner Cleaner you can kill water and air bourn bacteria that will grow in the appliance. if this is not kept under control the appliance will be come a virus & bacterial canon causing sickness in the home or office.

It is very important to get the correct size or you may as well not put a filter in at all.
F7 or F8 is the grade of the filtration and has nothing to do with size or model. there is very little difference between F7 & F8 but there is a big pressure drop so you should avoid using an F8 in the older HRV pre 2014 as it can kill the fan motor.
F7 is fine for the new HRV I'll attach a graph to show the difference.
