Community Services
SVDP is an international fraternal organisation of lay people inspired by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The aims of the Society are: To promote human dignity and justice and to help those in need, irrespective of race or creed, on a person-to-person basis. To bring together those in need, those who can assist them and those who can donate goods. To show love and friendship and equality.
The services that we currently provide in Hamilton are; 4 Op Shops(fundraising and recycling) / weekly meals for homeless and needy - lunches on Thursdays & Fridays / provide recycled furniture/chattels for people in need / member of Combined Night Shelters/ Member of HCCFT Food Bank.
Our 2 current projects in Hamilton are;
"Loaves and Fishes”, providing over 2000 school lunches each week and
“FullFill” - 2 vans, visiting various suburbs in the evenings Monday to Friday providing some food & drinks but mostly an opportunity for people to find out more about social services available.
