Hi there, I am a singer of 30 years experience. I started singing and have been in many band line ups, musical ventures and within the last 20 years working with schools, church groups and individuals helping them to maintain their singing voices. This is my speciality, the student attends one session to assess their needs for FREE. I will help the student trouble shoot what they are having difficulty with. So your with me for however long you need me...we review this as we go...I don't believe in student for a long time...I'm confident I can provide you with skills to last a lifetime!
What the student sings is their choice...I'm more concerned with 'how' they are singing. I try not to bore people with lengthy scales and or other time consuming cumbersome vocal technique rituals...
I'm here to help you feel confident to try new ways of working with your voice, restructuring your uniqueness into the song, providing you with very simple physical ways of coping with the art of vocalizing...
I can demonstrate them as I am a current vocal singer with my own business and now working in the Wellington region. I hail from Auckland so my musical networks and connections are in that neck of the woods, but I do have an extensive musical CV for your information and my more recent works are on YOU TUBE if your interested.
I charge $60 per session you get 1.5hrs of time together each session, you pay at the start of each session, and I can come to you if you would prefer otherwise the sessions will be at mine. If you have a particular song you need to prepare for a gig and not sure if your voice is going to make it or your just wanting to develop other tones and expressions, light and shade techniques, clean or gravel sounding vocals or increase on your vocal range....when you have mastered the technique and once you have achieved what you need you will be ready to go it alone...as all my lessons encompass the technique within the time we share trouble shooting. They are simple but effective ways to develop and to use the voice in its current state, if you are not well, have a cold, vocal chord nodes are trying to overcome a raspy voice, I'm sure I can be of help...as I too have experienced a full range of vocal issues as described above and worked with some very creative ideas of how to overcome them....I have had very limited clients I've worked with more recently due to moving from my home town...but most of my students and music connections are on my FB page who would verify my industry work if required...please feel free to ask...
One more thing, if you are tone deaf this is a different issue we need to look whether to see whether your ears, nose and/or throat are blocked for me to ascertain what is stopping you from singing in tune. However, if you have a ton of ego, I will ask you to leave it at the door..your openness is what is required to learn not your attitude and at times it difficult to accept what I might be saying as something to consider, understandable however, my final word would be to get an ear, nose and throat check up, it could be the inner ear that is being problematic and you don't even know. This has happened before with other students and cleared up easily. In the worst case scenario I've had is, there was a medical problem and it was healed, and it took a few months for the technique to be relearned, but she got it and the only thing left to do was practise it....great results I'll share sometime if we get the chance to meet.
So I do hope I get to work with those interested in building on their vocal ability, I'd be very happy to demonstrate my vocal skills at any given time....no time like the present.
