Lumino Symes De Silva

Welcome to Lumino Symes de Silva – we make quality dentistry affordable.

Our practice was established in 1992 after Dr Graham Symes saw an opportunity to establish a 7 day a week dental practice in Wellington. Graham set up a one-surgery clinic on the ground floor of the building that would later become Symes de Silva House on Courtenay Place. The practice was unique in that it charged standard prices on weekends in contrast to the Wellington dental emergency roster system that was currently in place.

After building a good reputation in the area, the practice expanded to include more dental chairs and a number of associate dentists. Among these was Ravi de Silva who returned from the UK to work with his dental school friend Graham. After a year Ravi bought half of the operation from Graham which was the start of Symes de Silva in 1998.

Five years later, the entire practice moved to its present location of the 1st floor of Symes de Silva House. Over the years Symes de Silva has built a reputation as a respected practice within the dental community. As well as employing a number of long term staff members, the practice has also been active in mentoring a great many young dentists, hygienists and assistants. The practice encompasses 8 surgeries and currently employs a staff of 30.
