Art Galleries
Hutt Art is an incorporated society, formed over 50 years ago, to provide a venue for people of the Hutt Valley to meet together and practise their art. Over the years it has expanded to incorporate the two old houses on the corner of Huia and Myrtle Street, which are now linked by the Odlin Gallery.
Hutt Art has groups of many different disciplines which meet regularly to work together, sometimes on their own, sometimes with a tutor. Membership of the society entitles members to participate in any group that is running, from different types of painting techniques to printing, from pottery to porcelain painting, from embroidery to weaving.
Hutt Art also hosts many events and exhibitions throughout the year...fortnightly exhibitions by community groups, solo artists, and visiting artists. The annual Muriel Hopper Art Award, a biennial Summer School, and many varied workshops throughout the year.
