Inca (a shitzu) was in her service coat walking nicely at heal … View moreWhile shopping at New World Regent a woman made a nasty conment about my mothers hearing dog being in the shop. Sadly we had come from the dog park and while we were able to wash the dog the colloar smelled of what she had rolled in. Inca (a shitzu) was in her service coat walking nicely at heal and was having a fun day. She was cleaner than some of the shoppers in shop. We have now started going out and about again now that Covid is not such a risk to Inca or my mother. Her tail was up and wagging before this incident and while it was happening and for a little time after her tail was between her legs and she was shaking. This is not a good look for a service dog or any dog for that matter.
When the woman would not accept that this dog had the right to be there I went and got helpful staff who were great and surporrtive.
A note to anyone who has issues with dogs in shops. Talk to the staff not the person. While people with Service dogs are understanding and helpful in explaining what the dog does and how we have to prepare for a shopping trip others may not be.
Please for your own saftey talk to staff as those who ignore the rules might be more aggressive than their dogs.
Thank you to the staff for your help with this hopefully out next trip in won't be as scary.

The Newsroom article Citizen assemblies offer hope for democracy and climate change challenges describes how a diverse group of demographically representative Aucklanders has been working with Watercare to give a citizens' view on how the region’s water should be supplied in future decades.
Given that Watercare will become the largest part of the future "Northwater" Entity A, I'm hopeful that this process will be used more often in the future, to discuss, deliberate and decide the gnarly questions. It sure beats the social media wars and toxic narratives that we're engaging in at the moment.

While I have now taken my ballot to the local WDC service centre, I almost didn't vote, either. The same old, stale, postal, minimalistic voting system, combined with less options, choices, votes and reliable information than ever, and a range of mostly uninspiring candidates, all of whom are opposing Three Waters (instead of jumping at the opportunity to offload an "unsexy" utility service, cash in on a job well done and invest in the future of our district), really put me off.
I'm worried that we will lose another three, maybe even six years due to pointless debate, council inaction and community apathy, and I'm wondering if we wouldn't be better off installing commissioners and getting done what we all know needs doing.

According to findings, the more you drink before bed, the more pronounced these effects. REM sleep happens about 90 minutes after we fall asleep. It's the stage of sleep when people dream, and it's thought to be restorative. Disruptions in REM sleep may cause daytime drowsiness, poor concentration, and rob you of needed ZZZs.
Alcohol may seem to be helping you to sleep, as it helps induce sleep, but overall it is more disruptive to sleep, particularly in the second half of the night if taken repeatedly.
Alcohol also suppresses breathing and can cause sleep apnea," or breathing pauses that occur throughout the night.
Studies prove that using alcohol as a sleeping aid can result in insomnia in the long run. However a drink or two here and there taken in a moderate quantity is of no harm.
