Geoff from Central Whangarei

Good People

On Thursday, the 21st March at 6pm WFS will be screening the UK Drama directed by Ken Loach, The Old Oak.

Our 8pm screening will be the French film, Paris Memories.

The Old Oak UK, 2023, Drama, 105 mins, Rated M
Cast: Dave Turner, Ebla Mari, Claire Rodgerson. Director: Ken Loach.

TJ is struggling to hold onto his pub in England's Northeast where people are leaving town as all the mines have closed.

Local tensions flare when Syrian refugees are housed in the town, a situation not helped by the community arguing about the upcoming vote on Brexit.

But TJ welcomes the refugees as he tries to carve out a future for himself, the community and his pub.

'From Ken Loach, the director of "I, Daniel Blake" and "Sorry We Missed You" comes yet another powerful and deeply moving story.'

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
