💡 The Kamo Shared Path and Raumanga Shared Path are quite close together - what if they could be connected up? This year we're making safety and layout improvements around Central Avenue and its side-streets to do just that.

We've incorporated local feedback in the plan, which includes dedicated vehicle turning-lanes into First, Second and Third Avenue, slightly narrowed street-entrances, traffic islands to help people cross Central Avenue, and street-lights on existing walkways. 🛴

The changes don't just improve the journey for kids, people pushing prams or riding bikes, they'll also make life easier for drivers. More details and a technical drawing available at the link below.

Clean up and restoration continues for those impacted by Cyclone Dovi
Northpower currently has 175 open fault jobs, impacting close to 100 customers, down from the peak of 6,000 affected customers on Sunday. The damage to the network has been extensive and widespread and we’d like to thank the community for their patience and support.
Cyclone Dovi was sharp and intense with winds exceeding 150km/h in many places and this has resulted in damage to poles, overhead lines and transformers. This along with the damage caused by large trees and branches has made it difficult to complete the repairs as the vegetation needed to be cleared first.
Please be assured our teams have been working to resolve these outages while keeping our customers, the public and our crews safe. We have brought in additional resource to assist and have more than 150 people involved in the restoration efforts. We are aiming to have most of the power restored today, it is however likely that some people will be without power night and into tomorrow.
If you power is not able to be restored and you will be without power tonight, one of our team will call you this afternoon.

Media Statement

Sunday 13 February 2022
The impacts of Cyclone Dovi have been widespread affecting many Northpower customers. Earlier today the number of customers impacted peaked at over 6,000.
Our field teams have worked from first light today, focussed on making things safe, locating faults and restoring power to customers. The incredible wind speeds, along with trees and branches that have taken down lines, broken crossarms, twisted poles and damaged transformers have made it impossible to get the power back on for everyone today.
Our crews will continue to work late into the evening and will call it a night by 9pm. We expect that less than 1,000 customer will be without power overnight, mainly in the wider Kaiwaka, Dargaville, Maungaturoto areas. Details of the larger affected areas are on our website, although there are also smaller localised outages that are not shown and which our teams will be working through addressing tomorrow.
The weather is expected to ease and early tomorrow morning refreshed crews will be back to continue the work to restore power. Please stay well clear of lines down and report these immediately on 0800 10 40 40.
We thank customers for their patience while our teams work to get the power back on as quickly as possible.
