As a mostly volunteer-led organisation, our members know first hand the value and impact that a single volunteer can make in our communities. Imagine then how much can be achieved when several volunteers or even an entire street or neighbourhood decide to work together to achieve the same goal!
Whether you plan to coordinate your own volunteer driven activity, take part in one that’s already been setup, participate in National Volunteer Week (20-26 June), or simply show your own volunteers some extra love this month, know that every bit of effort to give back is a priceless investment in all of our futures.

Kia ora neighbours, The boat of a man, 73, who has been missing from Waiheke Island, in Auckland, for a week has been found.
A police spokeswoman said there is still no sign of Erno Bedo, who was last seen on Sunday, May 23, at Oneroa Bay.

Bedo lives on a boat, called Holly, which is still moored in Oneroa Bay. The dinghy (tender) was found by police on Sunday morning.
The tender 'Holly' was spotted by members of the public on the east side of Motutapu Island around 9:15am, and was recovered by officers from the Police Maritime Unit.
Anyone with information on Bedo can contact police on 105 and quote file number 210528/2026.

The 1st Auckland Cavell Girl Guide Unit turns 100 in July and is still seeking old girls to join the celebrations.
One of the first girl guide units to be formed in Auckland, the group is gearing up to commemorate its centenary.
A social afternoon is planned for July 3, kicking off at 2pm with historic guiding activities such as knot tying and making arm slings.
Guests will be treated to afternoon tea and a birthday cake before photographs are taken of the girls.
The day will end with a singalong around the campfire.
The next day, a church parade will march through St Andrews Church, Epsom, where the unit has been meeting since 1921.
Parishioners are invited to a morning tea after the procession.
The unit, initially known as the St Andrew's Peace Scout Group, is believed to be the first guide company which has kept going since it was launched.
It all started when eighteen-year-old Mona Burgin wrote to the Dominion chief scout Colonel Cosgrove, a New Zealand Boer War veteran, asking about Girl Peace Scouts.
He arranged to meet her in Queen St, Auckland and wrote she would recognize him by the red flower in his buttonhole.
Soon after the meeting Burgin formed the troop on July 6.
Girl Peace Scouts wore khaki uniforms and the St Andrews troop wore a red open-ended tie.
In 1923, the Dominion Council became affiliated with the original Girls Guides Association in London.

We are an informal group that supports and educates its members and the broader community in heart disease and heart health management - we are all about "sharing the journey".
Heartbeats often has guest speakers along to our meetings, such as doctors, physiotherapists, pharmacists, dietitians and psychologists: all of whom are involved in heart disease and heart patient management.

Dr. Peter Hall, MBChB, a well-known GP who has had his practice on the Hibiscus Coast for over 30 years. Peter is a great speaker and a very patient-focused doctor with a passion for community engagement.
He will be talking about arrythmias and irregular heart rate conditions as well as mental health and wellbeing following a heart event i.e. dealing with a life-changing situation.
