Queensland fruit fly operations in winter
While fruit flies are less active in winter, our work in your neighbourhood will continue.
Operations will slow down over winter but some of our surveillance traps will stay out and we ask that you continue to stick to the rules on fruit and vegetable movements.
Biosecurity New Zealand lifted the Zone A restrictions and moved those properties into Zone B. Check what this means for you at biosecurity.govt.nz/queenslandfruitfly
We know it’s an inconvenience, but the work is vital for our horticultural industries and our backyard fruit trees.
We are grateful for your support, we cannot do this without you.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
